Mortimer (Tim) played an important role in the Club since he joined in 1983.  He had had a high powered job with Tiny Roland throughout  Africa and the UK and then used his experience and skills for Rotary.  He took on most of the Club’s official positions, becoming President in 1988 and again in 2005 and several times as Secretary and was District Chair of Foundation and member of the RIBI Foundation Committe. He attended countless Rotary Conventions and Conferences where he amassed some 60 different Rotary ties. His wife Jan would say " OMG not another tie, when are you going to wear them all?” -  but he did.

When Tim passed away in February 2018 Jan’s sister-in-law, who was a quilter, had the brilliant idea of turning them into a quilt, which she designed and made. Jan arranged for it to be exhibited at the Club’s President’s Night in 2019 and it was shown at Rotary conferences to raise money for End Polio Now.

It was finally exhibited at the Houston Rotary Convention when it was auctioned and raised $2500, being bought by a Rotarian from the mid-West USA. – See below.
